Los Angeles Ticketing NoCal Drivers For No Reason

By Hillel Aron

As loath as we are to say anything complementary about Los Angeles Parking Enforcement, we have to admit that they got this one right (even a broken clock….) They’ve been ticketing Northern California drivers for no apparent reason, other than the fact that say ‘hella’ a lot.

Frank Densmore told us in 2008 his tent trailer was ticketed by Los Angeles. But the cobwebs we saw on the trailer proved it hadn’t been moved in years.

“I’ve never been to LA, and I’ve got no way to move that trailer,” Densmore told us.

We received more complaints from viewers who told us LA showed no mercy, refusing to drop the tickets until we got involved.

Yeah! Suck it you Norhern Cali hippies! You will will pay us money and you will learn to love it. Hella love it. And make with the water, chop chop.

All Your Space Are Belong To Us

This may be the last year of freedom in Los Angeles. From Alice Walton:

A new state law, SB 1388, allows drivers to park at broken meters – unless their local municipality opts out of the law. In Los Angeles, transportation officials plan to ask the city council to approve an ordinance that will prohibit anyone from parking at a broken parking meter. The new state law will take effect on Jan. 1, 2013.

This after the LA City Council voted unanimously to raise parking ticket fees by $5, the sixth increase in seven years.

Here at Native Angeleno, we’re well aware of the high cost of free parking. Don’t get all Donald Shoup on us. This has nothing to do with getting Angelenos to use public transportation, and everything to do with the city family screwing drivers (aka, almost everyone) with their pants down, raising taxes without calling it raising taxes because they’re too chicken shit to actually call for a tax hike.
